The Outer Banks are known for many things- idyllic beaches, charming culture, and of course, outstanding parties! If you're looking for a fun place to celebrate Mardi Gras, then you should plan to visit the Outer Banks! Here are a few of the festivities that await you!
Beaufort Mardi Gras on Middle Lane
Beaufort, NC | February 26, 2022
Come to Middle Lane in Beaufort for their annual Mardi Gras celebration, which features (arguably) the shortest parade in North Carolina. Join The Sweet Potato Queens (a group of women, aged 40-70) as they dress in elaborate costumes and perform choreographed routines to bring joy to the crowd. There will also be live music, cajun food, and a small street carnival!
Visit a Brewery
The Outer Banks has a great assortment of breweries. Since Mardi Gras is best celebrated with a drink in hand, this is a great time to visit a brewery or two! Improvise a bar crawl through some of the best beer spots around! For instance, in Corolla, you could pair Off the Wall Tap House with Northern Outer Banks Brewing Company! In Kill Devil Hills, there are tons of breweries and tap rooms to pair for a bar crawl! There are plenty of options. Check them out here: https://www.twiddy.com/blog/outer-banks-breweries/
Don't Forget Dinner!
Looking for a New Orleans-style meal? Check out one of the Outer Banks' top cajun/creole restaurants! Lucky 12 Tavern in Nag's Head is a fun, retro spot that usually gets extremely into the Mardi Gras spirit! For all of your seafood boil needs, check out Outer Banks Boil Company. Flying Melon serves up scrumptious southern and creole dishes that center around local seafood!
Mardi Gras is magical in the Outer Banks! Plan your trip today.
