October is one of the best months to visit the Outer Banks. The weather is lovely, with temperatures ranging from the low 70s to mid 80s, and the atmosphere is festive, as there are a variety of excellent events to partake in! Here are just a few of the amazing activities that you can enjoy in Outer Banks this October.
Seafood Festivals
Fall is oyster season in the Outer Banks! This makes it a great time to check out a seafood festival.
The most prominent seafood festival in the area is the Outer Banks Seafood Festival. This year's Outer Banks Seafood Festival will take place on October 16. This festival will offer delicious food by a variety of local restaurants and a dazzling lineup of live music. There will also be arts & crafts vendors, so this festival truly has a little bit of everything. You don't want to miss it!
If you can't make it to a festival, then you can still check out some of the local seafood restaurants, which will undoubtedly feature seasonal specials on their menus!
Pumpkin Patches
If you're looking for a fun, family-friendly way to welcome the season, then you should check out some of the charming pumpkin patches in the Outer Banks!
There are two pumpkin patches located near the Outer Banks. At Grandy Greenhouse & Farm Market in Grandy, NC for hayrides, cider making, and pumpkin picking! There's also Island Farm, a historic farm packed with pumpkins, games, crafting activities, fall snacks, and more! Both of these pumpkin patches are loads of fun! If you can fit them in, then I recommend checking out both while you're in town!
Bonfires on the Beach
Bonfires are a cozy, enchanting way to spend a fall evening. They're especially nice in the Outer Banks because you can enjoy them on the beach! Bonfires are allowed on the southern beaches of Nags Head and Hatteras Island with a permit. Grab some marshmallows and get ready to make the best s'mores you've ever had!
These fall festivities will make your October extra special. Bring your family to the Outer Banks and enjoy these (and other) awesome activities!
