Are you ready for the holidays? Whether or not you're feeling the holiday spirit, you can't deny that seasonal celebrations are about to start! In Manteo, Christmas celebrations kick off this weekend. If you're looking for the perfect way to start celebrating the holidays, then you should check out the events that they have planned!
On Friday, December 2, Manteo will host their annual Christmas Tree Lighting. There will be Christmas carols, dancing, warm brunswick stew, hot cocoa, Christmas cookies, reindeer games, and a special guest reading of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas by Mrs. Claus. Then, Santa will light the Christmas tree!
The next morning (Saturday, December 3), the popular Christmas parade will take place. The parade will begin at Manteo High School and then wind through downtown before ending on the other side of the new College of Albemarle campus. The floats are incredible every year, and the community is always cheerful and enthusiastic!
The third big event will take place on Friday, December 9. On this day, Santa will come to town riding a very special sleigh (rumored to be the Roanoke Island Volunteer Fire Department truck). He will visit Manteo neighborhoods to greet local children!

Be sure to explore downtown while you're in Manteo! The storefronts are competing in a decorating contest and the results are truly enchanting.
