Nature Encounters on the Duck Boardwalk

October 20, 2021

Feeling drained? Need to get away from your computer and get back in touch with the world around you? If you're looking for an invigorating escape into nature, then this fall, you need to book a trip to the town of Duck. Duck is a thriving coastal community in the Outer Banks with lots to offer, including (during the fall months only) nature encounter excursions on the boardwalk

Duck is a barrier island with a diverse natural environment. They place high value on their clean waters and beaches, maritime forests, wetlands, willow swamp, and dunescapes and they do a great job of protecting them. Because they put so much care into preserving these natural wonders, they want to give visitors the chance to view them and learn more about them!

In October and November of 2021, visitors can call 252.255.1234 or email events@townofduck.com with the names of everyone in your party (and ages of any children) to register for a free tour of the boardwalk. Although the October dates have already passed, there are two dates in November for guests to take advantage of this terrific tour. If you'd like to take an evening tour, then you can schedule November 4 from 5:30-7 PM. If you'd prefer a morning tour, then you can schedule November 9 from 9-10:30AM.

Guests will meet at Town Hall and head either north or south on the boardwalk for about a mile total. These walking tours are led by a North Carolina Aquarium educator who is extremely knowledgable about wildlife that you might see on the coast/boardwalk. Wear comfy shoes, bring your hard-hitting questions, and be ready to learn lots of new things about North Carolina's marine ecosystem. You never know what you'll encounter!

This tour is a fantastic way to get to know a piece of the Outer Banks a little better. Leave the laptops at home and immerse yourself in coastal wonder. Space is limited, so book your tour today!
