OBX Skim Jam is a great place to get introduced to skimboarding. It is also a great place to pick up new skimboarding tricks! During this exciting weekend, people from all over come to the beach near Jeanette's Pier to watch or participate in a skimboarding showcase. Many of the best skimboarders on the East Coast attend, eager to show off for the Outer Banks crowd!
Skimboarding is a strenuous activity, but it is so fun! When trying it for the first time, you're likely to take a few tumbles, but once you get the hang of it, you'll find that it is invigorating. You'll never want to quit! It is similar to surfing. Typically, skimboarding is easier to learn than surfing, but catching and riding the waves is harder than surfing.
The competition venue is near tons of awesome local restaurants and shops, so you can enjoy fantastic food and shopping while you're there. It will be fun for the whole family!
