On Saturday, April 27, 2024, the Southern Shores Historic Flat Top Cottage Tour returns for the sixth year! On this day, guests can take self-guided tours through 14 of Southern Shores' remaining historic flat top cottages. These charming, low-slung beach houses were once a signature feature of Southern Shores, designed by beloved local artist Frank Stick.
The list of cottages whose owners will open them for the tour this year is as follows:
218 Ocean Blvd – Mackey Cottage; 18 E. Dogwood Trail – Oh So Sandy; 170 Ocean Blvd – Pink Perfection (Edith Pipkin Cottage); 169 Ocean Blvd – Atlantic Breezes; 157 Ocean Blvd – Sea Breezes; 23 Porpoise Run – Sokol/Clements Cottage; 156 Wax Myrtle Trail – Clarke/Gudas Cottage; 159 Wax Myrtle Trail – Falconer Cottage; 142 Ocean Blvd – Seaquel; 113 Ocean Blvd – the Knight Cottage; 69 Ocean Blvd – Sea Spray Cottage; 43 Ocean Blvd – Powell/Harritt Cottage; 78 Skyline Road; and 13 Skyline Road – owned by the Town of Southern Shores.
These homes are of varying sizes, locations, styles, and finishes, allowing you to truly get a feel for the architecture and neighborhood!

Tickets are just $10 and grant access to all 14 cottages. Purchase them online at Southern Shores Historic Flat Top Cottages Ticketleap: https://southernshoreshistoricflattops.ticketleap.com or in person on the day of the tour from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM at the tent located at Southern Shores Crossing Shopping Center (1 Ocean Blvd). Cash or check only will be accepted for day-of purchases.
Proceeds from the tour benefit the Flat Top Preservation Fund, which helps maintain these architectural gems!
