Two Affordable Beach Vacation Destinations in the Outer Banks

North Carolina is home to many diverse vacation destinations, including lots of great beach destination! Two of the most affordable cities to visit on a beach vacation are in the Outer Banks.

Ocracoke Island

Ocracoke is small and secluded, but that doesn't mean there's a shortage of fun! This island is only accessible by boat. Take the ferry over and enjoy a stay in the quaint village. There are a handful of excellent restaurants and interesting shops, plus a spacious beach that is seldom crowded. While you're here, you can walk on the beach, explore the landmark 1823 Ocracoke Lighthouse, uncover history at the Ocracoke Preservation Society, visit a WWII cemetery, go boating, and much more. Even more exciting- it is all affordable! Come soak up the sun on Ocracoke Island!

Corolla

Corolla is a gorgeous coastal town in the northern Outer Banks. It is popular because of its abundant wildlife and rugged beaches. The activities that you can enjoy here include kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, boat tours, and wildlife watching. This village is home to historic Currituck Beach Lighthouse, which has engaging exhibits and awesome views. There are also plenty of museums, shops, and restaurants to check out. If you're lucky, then you might spot one of the Outer Banks' famous wild horses roaming along the water! There's a lot to love about charming Corolla- including the low cost of vacationing here!
