December 17th marks the 120th anniversary of the Wright Brothers' groundbreaking first flight, and the Wright Brothers National Memorial is gearing up for a celebration you won't want to miss. This event honors the perseverance of Wilbur and Orville Wright! There will be live music, a flyover, speakers, commemorative ceremonies, and much more.
At 9am, the National Park Service, the First Flight Society, and Outer Banks Forever will join together in Kitty Hawk to celebrate the Wright Brothers. This year, the spotlight shines on aviation legends Walter and Olive Ann Beech. Walter, a war hero and industry leader, co-founded the Beech Aircraft Company with his wife, Olive Ann, who was an aviation pioneer and a highly influential businesswoman.

Witness history come alive as classic Beech aircraft are displayed alongside the iconic Wright Flyer. Renowned speakers like David Hallac, Mike Fonseca, and David True will delve into the Wright Brothers' legacy and the evolution of flight. A special portrait of Walter and Olive Ann Beech will be unveiled for display in the memorial's visitor center. There will also be a moving wreath-laying ceremony by descendants of the first flight's witnesses.
