Wright Kite Fest

July 3, 2022

In 1903, the Outer Banks were the site of the first flight. This July, come celebrate the historic event in Kitty Hawk during Wright Kite Fest!

Thanks to Kitty Hawk Kites, people from all over are able to take flight where flight first began! This special festival will take place at the Wright Brothers National Memorial. Take a walk on the historic grounds where Wilbur and Orville Wright took their first flight. In the sky, admire amazing 30- to 100-foot kites, including a 100-foot octopus, 80-foot panda, and a 50-foot fish, and more. You can also fly a kite of your own, take a free stunt kite flying lesson, and help the kids make their own kites.
